UPDATE: Due to The Elite Theatre’s concern for the health and welfare of our players, house staff, volunteers, and audience members we are delaying the beginning of our 2022 season by two weeks.
Our inaugural show, Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile, will now open on Friday, January 28 and run through Sunday, February 13.
Once again, the decision to push our opening has been made due to our commitment to keeping our Elite Theatre community safe.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We’ll see you at the Lapin Agile!
From the comic genius of Steve Martin comes Picasso at the Lapin Agile, an imagined meeting of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in 1904 Paris. Both men, on the verge of becoming famous, discuss their process and realize that art and science may just come from the same passionate desire and exploration for “creating a new way of looking at the world.”
The Lapin Agile is the favorite bar of a group of regulars, “artist types: writers, poets, painters” who bring their own brand of wit, wisdom, and the art of being French, to challenge Picasso, Einstein, and a surprise visitor, in a debate about talent, genius, art, science, love, and lust, and the changes they will encounter in the 20th Century.
